  2. Curb appeal?

    We saw an agent advertising a house with  curb appeal  the other week. Spell check needed there then. Even with a spell check ….. another agent friend of ours mentioned that one of his staff overseas the management department. The spell check wouldn’t have spotted that one. Another favourite of mine is the accommodation comprises of  which you see on a lot of agent’s descriptions. Eye just don’t no how peephole miss  these things. Bye the whey I did spell check this.

  3. Dragons versus Online Estate Agent

    I felt a bit sorry for the lad who tried to squeeze an investment out of Dragons Den this week for his pay per view online estate agency. Well , to call it an agency was stretching it a lot. The idea didn’t go down too well although Duncan seemed to be giving him the benefit of the doubt for a while.

    You would have to pay an up front fee and then pay for every viewing. No one to advise you, no one to negotiate for you, no one to do the viewings, write up your sales details or any of the hundreds of things an agent does for you.

    Everyone assumes that selling houses is easy. Can I just tell you that, very occcasionally, it is but more often than not it can be a very complicated process.

    You can paint your own house, service your own car, dye your own hair, teach yourself the guitar ( Ive been doing that for 30 years and I still can’t play a tune properly ), even dig your own grave.

    Or you can pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you. In our case that’s a maximum of 1% of what you get.
